Billy Soco

Hey there! I'm Billy Soco and would love to coach your team!
I currently teach at The Second City NY and Magnet Theater and am a workshop instructor at camps and theaters around the world. I perform with veteran teams Big Whoop (forms: Busy Town, One World, Spokane) and Kittyhawk (musical forms: Rock Opera, Monoscene) at festivals all over. I also teach/perform with North Coast NYC, perform with Comedysportz NYC, and am a proud Story Pirate. I've portrayed a fish!

I've performed with Freestyle+, Baby Wants Candy, Shamilton, ADX, Lloyd Night, Gatoculo, all-Latinx indie team CHUCHO (form: Spokane), The Little Big Show (Clubhouse/Club Sandwich), The Setup: An Improvised One-Act Play, Kaleidoscope, Being Jane Austen, and The Armando Diaz Experience: Musical Edition at the 2018 New York Musical Improv Festival and in the international ensemble, Sidecar, at NYMIF 2017. I portrayed a fish god!

Generally lean into responding and reacting honestly and building clear character pov and relationship dynamics. Bridging the gap between formula and discovery starts with being vulnerable, making choices and not forgetting to have fun.
For musical and Hip Hop improv, I tend to focus on driving into character wants and motivations then owning your songs and the stage so it’s clear how to support the narrative. Then you’re team can start cooking with oil. Portray a fish fry!
